ELEMENTS 2011: Phonophon Concert at Institut für Neue Medien (INM)

ELEMENTS X is a series of live performances in the domain of sound art, incorporating practices of field recording, composing and spatializing sound live on stage in a collaborative setting having particular focus on the elementary sound sources of the nature and acoustic environment. Like its previous exposition of 2008, the 2011 version of this series of performances intends to sustain collaboration and extend artistic exchange between sound artists and practitioners coming from different social and cultural landscapes, having a common fascination for critical field recording and performing with environmental sound; two soundartists, Budhaditya Chattopadhyay and Lasse-Marc Riek respectively from India/Denmark and Germany initiate this ongoing series.

The well-tempered Jaaga: multi-channel installation-performance

‘The well tempered Jaaga’ is a 10 channel sound installation-performance exhibited during an audio art fellowship-residency at Jaaga, the creative common ground in Bangalore. The composition is entirely developed upon structural vibration of Jaaga as part of the urban nature of Bangalore, while its metallic modular structure has been used as an instrument occasionally tempered with human intervention. The work is part of an ongoing project 'The Well Tempered City'.
